Seven Sisters Completes Art Fit-Out for BHP’s FutureFit Academy in Welshpool
Seven Sisters is proud to announce the completion of a unique and culturally significant project: an art fit-out for BHP's FutureFit Academy located in Welshpool. This project brought together creativity, cultural expression, and cutting-edge technology to enrich the learning environment at one of the leading training academies for future industry leaders.
Collaborative Art Project with Noongar Artists
In this exciting collaboration, Seven Sisters worked closely with local Noongar artists, Melissa Bennell and her family, to create six bespoke pieces of artwork. These pieces were designed specifically for the training workshop spaces at the academy, adding a distinctive cultural touch while enhancing the environment for students pursuing training in various fields. The artworks are an integral part of BHP’s mission to incorporate local culture and heritage into its programs, providing a deeper connection to the land and the people who have lived on it for thousands of years.

Melissa Bennell and her family’s work is deeply rooted in the Noongar culture and reflects their heritage through vibrant, meaningful art. The pieces created for the FutureFit Academy workshop are more than just decoration—they serve as a reminder of the rich cultural history of the area and offer a sense of belonging for those working and learning within the space.
A Vision of Innovation and Culture
The FutureFit Academy is dedicated to providing the latest skills and knowledge to prepare individuals for a successful career in industries such as mining, energy, and technology. The academy's approach combines hands-on training with innovation, making it an ideal setting for the art fit-out project. By incorporating the works of Melissa Bennell and her family, BHP is showcasing its commitment to a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
The six custom artworks were thoughtfully placed throughout the workshop, creating a visually stimulating atmosphere that inspires creativity and connection. The pieces resonate with students as they pursue their training, providing not just a functional space, but a space rich in cultural significance.
Strengthening Local Connections
For Seven Sisters, this project was more than just about art—it was about fostering local relationships and giving back to the community. By collaborating with Noongar artists, the project not only celebrates local culture but also supports Indigenous artists, ensuring their work continues to be recognized and appreciated in public and professional spaces.
The completion of this art fit-out is a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of respecting and valuing cultural diversity in the workplace. Seven Sisters is grateful for the opportunity to work with BHP, Melissa Bennell, and her family to make this project a reality.
